Stefan Edberg will be competing in the Saarlandhalle in Saarbrücken for the first time. He will play Michael Stich in singles and then a doubles match with the German, Henri Leconte and Thomas Muster. The event will have charitable purpose.

Stefan today
Nowadays Stefan Edberg leads a happy life with his wife Annette and his two children Emilie and Christopher. He moved back to Sweden from London, where he used to live during his professional career, and he has now residence in Växjö, the place where his wife was born. Stefan is the co-founder of an investment company called CASE and spends most of his time in the world of finance. He also is owner of a 40 hectare forest and sells wood to the Swedish paper industry. As far as tennis is concerned, Stefan joined the ATP Champions Tour in September 2008, when he won the first event he took part in, in Paris. He conceeds five or six appearances per year in the Senior Tour tournaments and exhibitions events. Besides, he is director of the Tennis Academy in Lagos, Portugal, since 2009.The rivalry
Between 1984 and 1996, Stefan Edberg and Boris Becker played 35 times against each other, 16 times in a tournament final. The German leads by 25-10, but Edberg won four of the five most important matches: two out of three Wimbledon finals, the 1989 French Open semifinal and the 1989 New York Masters final.
