Stefan Edberg will play the “Champions Trophy” at the Gerry Weber Open. This will be his very first participation at the tournament, that turns 20 years old this year. He’ll be playing mixed doubles on grass beside Anastasia Myskina and against another famous team: Michael Stich and Martina Navratilova.

Stefan today
Nowadays Stefan Edberg leads a happy life with his wife Annette and his two children Emilie and Christopher. He moved back to Sweden from London, where he used to live during his professional career, and he has now residence in Växjö, the place where his wife was born. Stefan is the co-founder of an investment company called CASE and spends most of his time in the world of finance. He also is owner of a 40 hectare forest and sells wood to the Swedish paper industry. As far as tennis is concerned, Stefan joined the ATP Champions Tour in September 2008, when he won the first event he took part in, in Paris. He conceeds five or six appearances per year in the Senior Tour tournaments and exhibitions events. Besides, he is director of the Tennis Academy in Lagos, Portugal, since 2009.
The rivalry Between 1984 and 1996, Stefan Edberg and Boris Becker played 35 times against each other, 16 times in a tournament final. The German leads by 25-10, but Edberg won four of the five most important matches: two out of three Wimbledon finals, the 1989 French Open semifinal and the 1989 New York Masters final. They are tied at 6 Grand Slams tournaments won each.
