"I love this somewhat dry grass, with a higher bounce than at Wimbledon. It makes my serve more effective, and leaves me a little more time to play my shots" - Stefan Edberg about the Kooyong grasscourt, just after his second title at the Australian Open in 1987. Read the article

Halle 2012 - Where my dream came true

YES!
In Halle, after the Champions Trophy, we managed to give Stefan Edberg the special screenshot of our website. Report and pictures of the event.

Edberg: from dream to reality
I was interviewed by Riccardo Bisti of TennisBest.com and had the chance to talk about my meeting with Edberg and the history of STE...fans.

"Tell me, Stefan, tell me when"
After hours and hours watching Edberg in tv in her teenage days, German fan Grit Steinweller had her first time live in Halle. She shared her feelings with us.

Stefan Edberg enters the Gerry Weber Stadion
Stefan Edberg comes in for the Champions Trophy exhibition in Halle Westfalen. This is the very first time in my life I see him live and... I guess you can hear it!

Champions Trophy highlights and on court interview with Stefan Edberg
Some highlights and funny moments at the 2012 Champions Trophy in Halle, a mixed doubles exhibition among tennis legends introducing the Gerry Weber Open. Stefan Edberg and Anastasia Myskina met Michael Stich and Martina Navratilova in a show match played at the best of three sets with a Champions' tie-break in the final set. I was able to film some of the best moments of the day from the stands: the presentation of the players, some rallies and the on court interview to Stefan Edberg. At a moment in the clip, a little band appears on the stands of the Gerry Weber Stadion and starts playing the Italian pop song "Quando, quando, quando" during play, causing ilarity from the crowd and the players. Stich and Navratilova eventually won the match 5-7, 6-2, 10-8.

German fan Grit Steinweller shared this video she personally took in Halle, at the 2012 Champions Trophy, when she had the chance to see Stefan Edberg play live for the very first time in her life, at the mixed doubles exhibition with Martina Navratilova, Michael Stich and Anastasia Myskina.

Halle 2012 Champions Trophy - Champions tie-break and on court interviews to all the players
Highlights from German Tv of the Champions Trophy in Halle, the mixed doubles exhibition with Stefan Edberg, Anastasia Myskina, Michael Stich and Martina Navratilova introducing the 2012 Gerry Weber Open. The video contains the entire champions tie-break of the match, eventually won by Stich and Navratilova with the score of 5-7, 6-2, 10-8. At the end, on court interviews to all the players. A big thanks to fan Thomas Meyer for contributing and sharing this video. You can download his huge list with 457 Stefan Edberg matches in DVD here --> http://bit.ly/IzUSv4.

A panoramic view of the Gerry Weber Stadion before the match
A view of the inside of the Gerry Weber Stadion filmed just half an hour before the Champions Trophy doubles exhibition between Stefan Edberg/Anastasia Myskina vs Michael Stich/Martina Navratilova.

Anastasia Myskina vs the man from the crowd 0-2
Anastasia Myskina is interviewed in Halle a couple of hours before her mixed doubles exhibition in the Champions Trophy at Stefan Edberg's side against Michael Stich and Martina Navratilova. Unfortunately I missed the part in English where she talks about Edberg, but she said she was thrilled to be playing next to him, 'cause she had seen some videos and he is an outstanding player. After the interview a person is called from the crowd to challenge Myskina in a sort of "football competition". The target is to kick the ball into the hole, but Anastasia misses all her attempts, while the man from the crowd scores two...

I was such a strong fan, following him from late ‘91, through retirement.
Mr. Murdiano, we had a lot in common.
I really admired him!
His losses made me sad.
I’m sorry I haven’t checked the site in awhile.

Thanks for running this site!
