Edberg in Rome with Federer!

Stefan Edberg arrived in Rome yesterday to follow Roger Federer during the Internazionali d'Italia. Speculations on the duo's presence in the Italian capital city had raised last week, after the Swiss, new father of two more twins, had been seen practicing in Zurich. Also Edberg was there, as proved by a picture of him at the Grasshopper Tennis Club in Zurich during a club competition.

Yesterday, at lunch time, G.B. Olivero, a journalist of Italian main sports daily paper "La Gazzetta dello Sport", posted a photo with Edberg taken in Via Veneto, one of the streets of the centre that made Rome popular in the '60s for the film "La Dolce Vita". Stefan had his first practice session with Roger Federer in the early afternoon on a very crowded side-court at the Foro Italico. Federer's sparring partner for the occasion was Italian veteran and Roger's good friend Potito Starace. Federer starts his tournament tomorrow playing Frenchman Jeremy Chardy.

Here are some pictures of yesterday's practice. Credits go to Claudio Giuliani for Italian website Ubitennis.com and Ignacio de Loma for Tennis Twins.

In this video you can see Roger trying (and missing...) a tweener, for the joy of the audience.
