Roger Federer's choice of improving his serve&volley game is also evident from how he selects his hitting partners.

Last Tuesday, just as he arrived in Cincinnati, the Swiss had a practice session with Nicolas Mahut, the net specialist from France, who has always been a good friend of Roger's and became famous in 2010 when he lost the record marathon match at Wimbledon 70-68 at the fifth set against American John Isner.

Of course coach Stefan Edberg was also there to supervise the practice.

Peg Duthie, who has been doing an extensive coverage of the Cincinnati Western and Southern Open for our partner website Tennis-Buzz, took these wonderful pictures of the event that are now part of a Flickr gallery.

According to some tweets, a huge and very enthusiastic crowd was present.
