Two of Sweden’s biggest sports stars of recent years, ice hockey defender Nicklas Lidström and tennis star Stefan Edberg, are used to winning, having climbed to the very top in their respective sports.

It turns out their post-sports careers maintain a winning trend as well; this time through investment company Case.

Case just won the Best Swedish Corporate Bond Fund 2017 in Morningstar's annual Fund Awards, which recognizes the industry's best performers in dozens of diffent countries.

“We are incredibly happy about winning this prize, and it shows that we have chosen the right strategy, which is to give our investors a safe and stable return,” said the NHL-star Nicklas Lidström about the accolade.

Nicklas Lidström won four Stanley Cup titles with the Detroit Red Wings, in addition to being named the league's best defender seven times and winning Olympic Gold with Sweden's national team in 2006. Stefan Edberg is one of Sweden’s foremost tennis players of all time, having won six Grand Slam titles, including the U.S. Open in 1991 and -92.

Case's two funds Safe Play and Fair Play have a limited risk profile.

“Safe Play is a smarter way to earn a return, which suits savers who want an alternative to a bank account, but don’t want to take too big risks. Last year, the fund returned 4,1 percent,” said Stefan Edberg, referring to his private savings in Safe Play.

Case was founded in 2004 by a team of entrepreneurs and sports stars. The firm's funds have generated handsome returns in recent years, in part thanks to the company’s value-based investment philosophy. Case's risk-adjusted returns have earned them high marks from Morningstar. The firm's typical clients are high net worth individuals, sport stars and entrepreneurs.
