I buy Tim regularly and I believe that I will eventually receive what I’ve been waiting for a long time. This waiting is called Stefan Edberg, a Swedish tennis player. I wished with all my strength that you would post something about this tennis player, not necessarily in his on court context (as well-known, Stefan is widely regarded as a tennis gentleman).
I know of course that you replied to a lot of people with different requests, but I believe in you, I just believe that my request will be met.
Your faithful reader

Boris Becker enjoys nightlife; Peter Graf – Steffi’s father- got involved in a complicated love affair with an attractive glamor model; Martina Navratilova prefers ladies, Bjorn Borg faced a trial last August with his wife, Ivan Lendl... Glamour, gossip, speculations, suggestions, real and fabricated revelations. The time when public interest was exclusively limited to the on court action of tennis stars is long gone, if it ever existed.
About some sport aces one can hear more, about some other less. To the latter, probably belongs Stefan Edberg. Even in purely sporting reports he leaves room to his colleagues. For example, although this year the Swede won the great tournament of Wimbledon, journalists have spent much more attention on Lendl.
Edberg perhaps doesn’t catch the eye. But is it possible in the case of tennis world number one? – ask the fans. Is it realistic in the case of a 24-year-old handsome (188 cm tall, 71 kg in weight), blonde with the face of a lost child and a movie lover (striking resemblance to Al Corley - Steve Carrington from Dynasty)? - ask angry ladies.
Actually, it's essentially impossible. And as a tennis player Stefan Edberg has been drawing attention for at least seven years, when he reached the world junior champion title. Girls flirtatiously darted at him as early as kindergarten.
He, too, was smiling to them, but in his room he stared for hours at the poster of McEnroe. He wanted to play like McEnroe and win like the American.
He was born on January 19, 1966 in Västervik on the Baltic Sea (200 km south of Stockholm). The first who appreciated Stefan’s skills was his brother Jan – after he beat him on court. A big affair for Percy Rosberg - a talent scout, who discovered, among others, Borg.
The 15-year-old Edberg began the typical life of tennis, hiking out from tournament to tournament. And it would be nice to pedagogically write that he graduated at university like at the Slam tournaments. However, the intense life of courts virtually precluded such symbiosis. And for the young Swede Flinders Park in Melbourne, Roland Garros in Paris, and the grass of Wimbledon became universities.
Today he climbed up to the top. He overcame Lendl in the ATP ranking. He is also leader in the prizemoney. This year he has already earned over a million dollars.
No, but Edberg is only 24 years old, and the Capricorn horoscope says that he was born under a lucky star. He won four Grand Slam tournaments (twice the Australian Open and twice Wimbledon), a huge bank account - enlarged last year (between contracts and prizemoney) by 1,661,491 dollars - and success seems to confirm the oracles.
Edberg, like most Swedish tennis players, lives outside Scandinavia. He settled down in London. He has a comfortable villa surrounded by a garden. For a long time faithful to the same girlfriend - beautiful blonde Annette Olsen, supposedly a "gift" from another tennis celebrity, Mats Wilander.
Both - Annette and Stefan - love cinema, disco music, skiing. They have a quiet life, if you do not count the hard work of tennis for the young Swede, troubled by injuries. In fact this season Edberg appears on the courts a little less than other stars. But thanks to this he has more time for Annette and for trips to parents to Västervik.
