Absolute Wimbledon class on court with stars Stefan Edberg and Magnus Larsson.
In an almost fairytale summer, the grass courts were inaugurated on Saturday June 9th. Stefan Edberg and Magnus Larsson came in for tennis entertainment and showed up superb grass tennis for an audience of 300.

“I think all members of the KTK should feel proud”, said Edberg, who also took the opportunity to praise the facility in its entirety. “The outdoor courts are among the best in Sweden", said Edberg. "At least visually”, added Stefan, because he had not tested them yet.
VIP lunch began
The inauguration started with a VIP lunch on court two inside the tennis center where sponsors and donor members were invited for an excellent buffet. Club manager Sophie Alriksson informed about the project and that the primary purpose of the grass courts is to invite members and visitors guests for something special and fun. They may also be of interest for elite players to come for training before the grasscourt tournament season.
During the lunch Peter Kullring interviewed a number of people, including Per-Anders Lindeborg who has been the initiator and driving force in the club for the success of this project. With the help of the municipality, sponsors and contributions from members the project has not had to charge KTK's budget with a single crown, Per Anders noted. “Fantastic, he said, we can now give people the chance to try the most genuine form of tennis”.
People sat in circle on the court while Trumbolaget (ann. a drum music band) played and raised the temperature further. Stefan Edberg received the great honor of cutting the blue and yellow ribbon and inaugurate the courts. Chairman Henry Johnson took the opportunity to hand out a couple of special gifts to Elaine Lindeborg and to Per Anders Lindeborg, for his incredible dedication and perseverance in the project.
This was followed by a performance of the highest quality between Stefan Edberg and Magnus Larsson, where Edberg was the most brilliant. There were many delightful duels where players showed up the most of what can be performed with a tennis racket on a grass court.
The audience was especially impressed with Edberg's kick serve, cat-like footwork and low center of gravity which is still his signature despite the fact he is approaching the 50 mark.
“I always win inauguration matches because I usually meet local councilors in the area”, said Larsson. “Should I beat Stefan I would accomplish something extraordinary”. Edberg won the set 6-3 and then invited the club's juniors Morgan Johansson and Marcus Mansson into a finishing doubles. Morgan partnered Stefan and Magnus and Marcus formed the other pair. The doubles match also offered many exciting and ecstatic duels where juniors showed that they can keep up with the seniors. Stefan and Morgan eventually won 6-4.
